Spicy snacks that are actually both good and spicy are hard to come by, but Kentucky’s own KP’s Specialty Pepper Products has a formula for products that have every chance at becoming hugely popular. Makers of some novel spicy nuts and a few hot sauces, we became acquainted with them at this past Jungle […]

Down in the Tarheel State lives Tracy Campbell, and home to the Cape Fear Pepper Company. CFPC is one-stop shopping for all your hot sauce and spicy food needs, and there is a nice selection to be had…even if you have to deal with the eBay purchasing platform to get your hot & spicy goodies. Not only that, but there are a couple of hot sauces of his own that are worth your time and tasting dollar. You can see Jon’s review and our review of the CF Red Savina Hot Sauce as well as our review of his all-too-good Smolderin’ Chipotle Hot Sauce as well. One of the newest folks to contact us as one of our Featured Retailers is Mike from Gourmet Mike’s, an online hot & spicy food retailer who hails out of the great state of Utah. Mike’s store carries a fairly wide selection of products, with hot sauces from novelty ones to the major players like Blair, CaJohn, Dave, and many others. From salsas to snacks to BBQ, Gourmet Mike’s has a lot of really cool stuff. One thing we like is their gift sets. It’s a great way to get a selection of different products all at one for your favorite chilehead…even if it’s you! We asked Mike a few brief questions about his business, and his answers were equally as brief. The proof is in the pudding (er, website) that is, so go check out his site and see for yourself. For now, here’s what Mike has to say:

Chili’s Fire Pit is a brick & mortar hot sauce shop located within a few miles of the shores of Lake Erie in sunny Mentor, OH…just east of Cleveland, OH. During the fall of 2004, Joe spent a month in Cleveland doing a rotation in anesthesiology at South Pointe Hospital and made several trips to Mentor to go shopping there. It was such a cool place that we even did the family thing and made a trip with the whole fam to hang out with Don (Chili) and try a bunch of sauces, salsas, and other miscellanous goodies. If memory serves, we ended up spending a fair amount of moolah loading up on some great sauces for our collection…many of which are still with us to this day. We met up with Chili again at this past ZestFest, and wanted to give him & his business a little more exposure. Besides having his brick & mortar shop, Don also does mail- and online-ordering as well. We asked Don to answer a few questions about his business, what he likes to eat, and maybe to show some more pics we took of him from our trip to TX…

Our inaugural Featured Retailer post is on behalf of Cosmic Chile, a great online retailer that hails out of the great state of Montana. Eric Vinje (pictured below) is the grand poobah of Cosmic Chile, and he has been a great supporter of our blog since the very beginning. Cosmic Chile offers a wide, eclectic collection of “Hot Sauces, Salsas, BBQ Sauces & More!

Eric was gracious enough to share some information about himself, his business, and the truth behind “sex and chiles”….
