Passow Has The Fury

We here at The Hot Zone Online try our best not to do duplicate reviews. Honestly, we do. But I can’t help that Sandi has such good tastes in salsa. So here it is, a second tongue now weighs in on Jac’s Tailgater Cajun Fury Salsa.
Jac’s Tailgaters: Cajun Fury Salsa Ingredients: Tomatoes, water, onion, Jolokia, Jalapeno and Habanero peppers, spices (including salt, garlic and black pepper), sugar, citric acid.
I’m up in the air on the label. I like its simplicity, but at the same time think it’s too simple. But then I laugh at the poor crawdad on the front who’s just had his dose of heat and everything seems right in the world. The salsa contained within the jar is around a medium consistency with small chunks of the ingredients and a few whole seeds.
Right up front is the taste of tomatoes combining with sugar and onions. The sugar is noticeable but is then quickly covered up by the earthy taste of Jolokia which is followed by some crisp onions. After that the Jalapenos come in followed by a big burst of salt, then the garlic and a little side of the mouth tug of citric acid with black peppercorns rounding out this run on sentence. It’s a fantastic tasting sauce save for the salt, there’s just a bit too much of it. Not sure it I would really label this Cajun either, there’s nothing flavor wise that suggest Cajun to me…I’m kind of baffled by that.
Now onto the heat. That little crustacean isn’t joking, this thing’s got some serious bite to it. It starts out in the center of the tongue then creeps to the front while simultaneously slamming the back of the throat. It slowly builds, and then fades to a low flame. Hot enough to get my nose running, but not hot enough to shop me loading up another chip full. Definitely use this in scrambled eggs in the morning, you’ll thank me later.
Taste: 8.1, Heat: 7.005

Thanks Passow for the review. The Cajun is because it is made right here in Louisiana it self. Never did I dream that this Salsa would take off like it did but we can not keep it since we came out with it in February. And please keep loading those Chips up and eat more fury.
Keep and eye out for the chuncky coonass and the blazin chuncky coonass to hit the website real soon and bottles to land in y’alls mailbox.
AYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
thanks guys for all y’all do here on the HZO

Passow, Cajun is a whole world of flavors! Lay off my Bro! Come on, you really don’t think that blackening seasoning is the only example of Cajun flavor do you? By the way, I see you are trending to be quite picky about the presence of seeds. Well guess what? Tomatoes are full of seeds too!!! And after all, it IS a salsa! Your reviews are beginning to sound like a reading of the Ingredient declarations. You have a much better palate than that. Just constructive advice. BTW-are you coming to the Grillmaster’s at the North Market Memorial Day weekend? We have something real special to debut! We maybe 5 or 6 things actually…

John, thanks for the critique. But you took my seeds comment in the wrong way. I was just describing the appearance of the salsa. There was nothing wrong with the seeds being in it.
As for Cajun flavors, I’ve had many kinds. This didn’t match up to any of them which was why I was questioning the use of “Cajun” on the label. As Jac’s pointed out in the first comment, it’s because it’s made in Louisiana.
As for my reviews sounding like ingredients declarations, in a way they are and always have been. I attempt to describe flavors of things and at what order they hit the tongue. This is something I’ve always done. This review, however, was lacking a lot of fancy descriptors. I apologies and will attempt to be more creative when the time allows.
Nope, won’t be making it to the Grillmaster’s event, have a gig that weekend. Look forward to hearing about you new releases though!

Guess you’ve never tried Creole sauce then. It has a definite warmed salsa flavor to it. Sorry we’re going to miss you at the Grillmaster’s, It won’t be the same without you. What are the brew houses in the area going to do for business that weekend?
