Passow Loves Linda And Joe For The Chips They Sent

Joe and Linda were so kind to send me a care package the other day and one of the various groovy items they sent me just HAD to get a review. Why? Because it’s one of the most addicting things I’ve ever eaten. The product is Deano’s Jalapenos: Jalapeno Chips Cheddar and are basically dehydrated Jalapenos. Once I bit into the first one, my life was forever changed.
Deano’s Jalapenos: Jalapeno Chips Cheddar Ingredients: Jalapenos, canola oil, cornstarch, whey, buttermilk solids, chesses (Cheddar & Granular) whey protein concentrate, salt, sodium phosphate, citric acid, Yellow 5 & 6, lacyic acid, enzyme.
Ok, have to get something out of the way first. Artificial colors, ugh. There is no reason why anyone should use those nasty chemicals. The cheddar itself should convey enough natural color not to warrant the use of artificial color. I’m actually allergic to them and always avoid products that have them but this product is so good I had to say this is worth the reaction I’m going to have later.
Now that I got that little rant out of the way, onto the taste. When I first tried this product my eye widened and I said a slow, “Ohhhh….my…god…” outloud. The taste of wonderful cheddar cheese comes right out front and then the flavor of the Jalapeno hits. It’s not complex, it’s just so amazingly simple that it boarders being brilliant. They are crispy like a potato chip but then eventually softened up as you eat.
The heat is a little inconsistent I find. Some slices have no heat and other have a little tingle that hits the front and back of the tongue. While inconsistent, it’s at a level that you can scarf down a whole bag and not even blink….which is basically what I did.
So, Joe and Linda, thank you for sending me the care package. I am now hopelessly addicted to a product that I’m allergic to. You are evil, evil people and I love you for it! Here’s hoping the company comes out with different pepper varieties (sans artificial color). Hell, the marketing possibilities on this alone are infinite. They could even do a “Trail Mix” type blend of Habaneros, Serranos, and Jalapenos…
Taste: 10, Heat: 0.8

I’d like to try these. Might have to break down and order some. The inconsistant heat level is just typical of the jalapeno. Some are hot some aren’t.

I ate my last bag at last night.

I’ve got one bag left, and I’ve been SOOOO tempted to plow right through it. But I need something to photograph for my review.

This bag we sent was due to having to re-order once already. The 9 bags we ordered will be gone soon, and I think we may have to order a dozen more this time.

LOL You’re welcome! I pointed out the variation of heat in my review of this and it’s noteworthy, but like Hudd said, that’s just typical of jalapenos in general and it’s nice getting a surprise kick now and then.
We’ve almost burned through the addition bags we purchased online. And I can’t let Joshie see these. That little 4-year-old could down a bag in mere seconds.

I think think I may have been the only one at the FFS that didn’t think these chips were the best thing since sliced bread. For me they were good, just not great.
7 oz for 12.95 (or 28.50 lb.) is too much in my opinion.
For example you can pick up a 12 oz bag of Doritos Fiery Habanero chips or basically any snack chip for 3.99. Less if you find them on sale.
For 28.50 a pound I could buy Super Colossal X-Jumbo North Australian Tails….just sayin.

Parker, Canned Bacon is the best thing since sliced bread.

Oh, Parker, me thinks you got ripped off. At Brian’s store he’s selling it for $3.99 a bag

I know this is the wrong thread but I just tried my Hoppin Frog Oatmeal Imperial Stout…It was ridiculous expensive, like 12 dollars for 1 bottle (22 ounces) But WOW!!! This is truly amazing, absolutly the best beer I have ever had, passow, you are one lucky guy to work there!!!

Thanks, Ed! We get complaints about the price (people still pay it), but generally, big beers like that usually go for that price anyways and people wouldn’t bat an eye at paying that for a bottle of wine…soooooo…eh.
Glad you liked the beer! If you liked that one, try to find D.O.R.I.S the Destroyer. It’s the bigger, meaner sister of the beer you just had

Oh Passcow, I didn’t purchase any of these. They sell them for 4.31 (per 2.5 oz bag) on their website, do they ship them free of charge? I guess 3.99 is a bargain unless you have to pay shipping.
Now the beer sounds great, I’ll take a bottle of that over 3 bags of chips any day!

I think the shipping is included when ordering online.
