Not to toot our own horn, But all of Race City’s sauces & mustards have no to VERY little salt. If it contains salt, you will find it as the last ingredient, not the second or third…

So what’s wrong with salt? I couldn’t live without it. I even put salt on watermelon.

“So what’s wrong with salt?”
Some people are on a low sodium diet for health reasons.
” I couldn’t live without it.”
Actually, NO ONE can live without salt. It’s esentale to life functions.

Nothing wrong with salt, Steve, but even though I don’t necessarily have health problems I try to watch how much I consume. I get enough sodium from processed food and fast food that I don’t need extra from the stuff we cook ourselves.

“What’s wrong with salt?” Well like Jon said we all need it. I started looking at the everyday foods and noticed I was probably consuming 2-3 times the recommended 2300mg a day (sometimes more). I’m concerned about the potential health risks associated with a high sodium diet like higher blood pressure which can lead to heart attacks and strokes(which run in my family).
If I can find sauces that taste good that are lower in sodium, those will appeal to me. I eat a lot of hot sauce!
I love salt, but I also love life!

I hate salt. I rarely use it (ie: sprinkle it on things). Although one thing I do enjoy is taking asparagus, coating it in some EVOO or almond oil, sprinkling just a little bit of Celtic Sea Salt on it, cover it in tin foil and grill it up…….sooooooooooo good…
But ya, I hate salt.

All of CaJohns sauces are low in sodium, the Krakatoa and Selects have NO salt. It diesn’t say what heat level is desired, but ours that do have salt are VERY low in sodium content.

I completely forgot about your select series, CaJohn! Duh! Going to have to incorperate that into my answer bank when people ask for low/no salt sauces at the store.

Jonathan-You can also add to your list the Chuck Evans’ MONTEZUMA Brand line of SMOKEY CHIPOTLE Pepper Sauces, HABANERO Hot Sauces, and our SPICY RED Everyday Pepper Sauce are all extremely low in sodium, about 1/2 of 1%.

1/2 of 1%? I think I got this one. You carry the 1, and then you move the decimal over 2 spots and then half that number once. So ummm, that should be 20 grams/ ounce? I think that is right. I left my short bus cow-q-later at the office.

I’m going to try and put together a list for those who are interested. I’ll be asking around in New Mexico next month.
