Back from the sunny, yet cold, Caribbean

It’s been a couple of days, but we have indeed returned from our Caribbean adventure on the “Spice of Life” cruise with our fellow chileheads. We will write more in the next few days, as we are still a little wiped out from the travel. Above you can see some of the swag we returned with after our brief visit to Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas.

What would be a trip without the obligatory quest for hot sauce? We didn’t fare too well during our short time in Freeport, finding only a bottle of goat pepper hot sauce with a curious pink color in the bottle’s neck…so we passed that up. These sauces from Conchy Joe were found in Nassau, although our 3rd bottle fell victim to an error in packing and was claimed by the TSA when we went through security while leaving Orlando.

There was lots of liquor to be found, but we brought back only a few bottles of rum…courtesy of the Tortuga rum company. We much prefer tequila for our casual consumption, but the rum was pretty darn yummy so we had to bring back a few bottles to keep for our collection when we want to mix up a girly foo-foo drink.

I can’t believe you went to the Bahamas and didn’t bring back a bottle of Barbancourt! Tsk, you missed the best rum.
As for Conchy Joe, he and Greg go waaaay back. This is Greg’s favourite hot sauce that he doesn’t make. We just got a dozen bottles in a week and a half ago.
Yummm.
