A sad loss for the industry

Dave Lutes of Hot Shots passed away yesterday after a short, but courageous, fight with pancreatic cancer. For those of you who go to the industry shows, you’ll remember Dave as a fixture there with his Hot Shots booth selling all those sauces with the funny names. A truly nice guy who will be missed, not just by his friends from within the industry, but by everyone who knew him.
R.I.P., Dave.

Big Dave was a close friend, we will miss him dearly. Dave was one of our first distributors and Hot Shots is one of our largest customers today. This is truly a loss for the entire hot sauce world.

Dave was a great man who helped us get started in the industry with plenty of his support and knowledge.

At the Fiery Food Show he was more than helpful to me in shipping my weekends purchases to me the last two years. Not to mention the after show gathering back at the Hot Shots room. Eventhough I didn’t know him personally one doesn’t have to spend much time with him to know he had a warm heart. My sympathies to his family and many friends.

Big Dave will live on forever. Dave & Cathy Lutes of Hot Shots are the most special people we have ever known. Big Dave was our mentor. All chileheads were touched by Dave in some manner. Dave loved this industry with a passion and truly cared for those in this business from all manufactures, all retailers, all end users and collectors. Dave was a visionary, he applauded what everyone does in this business. He gambled on hot sauces and we all won! Thank you Dave, and thank all of you for your kind words for the Lutes family. Love you Dave, Mike & Leah HOT SHOTS
