Finally had a chance to sit down and cook up a nice steak (I’ve been lax in my BBQ duties this year) so what better opportunity than that to use Sauce Goddess BBQ Sweet Heat Rub Rub. No, that’s not a typo, they have rub on there twice.

Sauce Goddess BBQ Sweet Heat Rub Rub Ingredients: Sugar, salt, spices, dehydrated garlic and onion, paprika.

This dry rub comes in a fantastically designed tin, complete with see through top and eye catching labels. The ingredients are of a medium ground appearance, very fresh looking as well with a nice off red color.

Right out of the bag the first flavor is sugar and salt, then the pepper moves in (which I am getting hints of Cayenne here). Then the onions followed by the garlic are the final tastes. But this isn’t made to be eaten out of the bag now is it. It’s meant to be grilled!

So I did a decent coating on a Sirloin stake and let sit in the refrigerator for an hour. When I went to throw it on the grill I noticed the rub had rehydrated quite nicely and melded together, completely covering the meats every nook and cranny. I cooked it up to a level of rare and as you can see by the picture below, it came out amazing.

When eaten, there was a little hint of sweetness and the garlic flavors came in second. Following that was the salt and peppers. It’s not overly salty though, just perfect. The heat diminished a little but not by much. Like I said, it’s a Cayene type burn, so just under medium heat. What a fantastic dry rub! Be sure to try it out in sour cream for an excellent party dip (the recipe is in the “Reciplease” list that comes in the tin).
