Passow Slaps A Turkey Around

Hello folks! North America’s Hot Sauce Ambassador to Australia is here again with yet another Aussie sauce to review. This one comes from our friend, Neil, o Do I Call My Ex ver at The Hippy Seed Company and is titled Y7 “Turkey Slap”. The Y7 comes from the Yellow 7 Pods and the Turkey Slap come from both a fun past time activity and the fact that Wild Turkey Bourbon was used in the sauce.
The Hippy Seed Company’s Y7 “Turkey Slap” Ingredients: Yellow 7 Pods, Wild Turkey, vinegar and sugar (not saying what type), pinch salt.
Yes, you read that right, Neil’s withholding ingredients and making me guess. Since this is a private release and I was lucky enough to get one, I’ll let that slide. The consistency is extremely pureed, to the point that it is comparable to baby food (which are amazingly tasty and I highly recommend them) with a nice muted yellow color.
And the taste? Ohhhh the taste, it’s soooooooo gooooooodddd!!!! Instant peach/mango fruitiness from the Yellow 7 Pods mixes with apple cider vinegar and a hint of sugar right off the front end. Then the bourbon comes into the background, walking out with a few 7 Pods held in its arms. No salt taste whatsoever.
7 Pods have the distinct pleasure of being rumored to have a heat in excess of the famed Bhut Jolokia. After trying the sample 7 Pod that Neil sent me, I’d have to agree. Now in sauce form, the heat dies down a little but is still a match for most Jolokia sauces out there. It’s a combo of a Habanero and Jolokia burn which then moves into a whole other level of burn. The back of the throat becomes engulfed in a searing burn that builds very rapidly then dies down to a prickling pain. This pain slowly fades to an all around mouth hurt with emphasis on the sides of the tongue and back of the throat. What a zinger. It feels like my mouth really did get slapped.
This sauce is really fantastic. I don’t know if it’s that mango taste that I so love that causes this, but I keep spooning this sauce right out of the jar into my mouth. I’m not the only one either. I took this to my favorite watering whole, La Cave Du Vin, where bartender and all around hyperactive good dude, Chauncey, keep coming back with spoon in hand for another hit of the sauce. Nice work once again, Neil, you’ve earned a rare 10 for taste!!!
Taste: 10, Heat: 9

Passow,
Remember that it’s likely better to slap a turkey than choke a chicken.

Passow, if you’re the Hot Sauce Ambassador to Australia, can I be the Ambassador to the Bahamas? I’ve been wanting to take some vacation time down there…

a “pinch” of salt? How much is a “pinch” of salt?
Scott, Greg is childhood friends with the Attorney General of the Bahamas, I can have him put in a good word for you.
or…
You can just wait until we retire there and come visit.

Noun
pinch of salt (plural pinches of salt)
1. A small amount of salt.
2. (figuratively) Caution, doubt, consideration.
Take anything he tells you with a pinch of salt, he’s an inveterate liar and mixes truth with his fiction liberally.

Hello. I am with you on the “fantastic” evaluation of Y7 Turkey Slap sauce. I just did a video review of it on my youtube channel HotAsHellSeedCo.
I even did a second vid. I had to. Like your evaluation I agree that is was SOOOOO GOOD I had to keep eating it. Mouth has a glow from Y7 as I write this.
THSC is “unique and stand-out” as Chile products purveyors.
I highly, HIGHLY recommend them and ALL their products.
That’s very unusual coming from a so-called competitor to give such “raves”. THSC IS WORTH IT!
I only hope that as I and my Chile pepper operation grow, HAHS will follow suit and be at least as good as THSC when we begin our sauce production journey. Stay tuned!
Cheers! ~Phil (owner http://www.HotAsHellSeeds.com)

Yes I agree that Neil nailed it with this sauce but I was surprised that it wasn’t as hot as his Skobiyan Trinidad Scorpion sauce?
