Passow Bears a Torch
Purchased this next one from the good ol’ folks at Torchbearer Sauces. I always enjoy an excellent dessert sauce and was specifically looking for that when I went to their booth at the Weekend of Fire in August. After trying a sample, I knew this was the one I’ve been looking for.
Torchbearer Sauce Sugar Fire Ingredients: Papaya, mango, mandarin oranges, Habanero peppers, sugar, and other all-natural spices.
The color is a slight off yellow with the occasional fleck of red and pepper seed or two. As for the consistency I’m going to liken it to baby food puree with a a few sparse chunks of fruit. The taste? Actually, I know this may sound bad, but it’s kind of like a gourmet version of fruit baby food with a little kick. I know, I know, baby food’s for babies! Well, I have allergies and so does my mom and we both will eat pureed fruit baby food from time to time with a meal at work because it never gives us problems and it tastes GREAT!
Both the papaya and mango fight over who comes on the palette first and continue to flip flop for dominance. Up next comes the mandarin oranges….such cute little things, they are the midgets of the orange world. Rounding it off is the fruity taste of Habaneros. Not sure what “all natural spices” they use because I can’t taste anything other than the above mentions although there is just a slight lingering taste that I can’t put my finger on…. I also don’t taste the sugar, just the natural sweetness of the fruits which is an excellent bonus as I can see this not working as an over the top sugary sauce. The heat on this is extremely mild but it is there. Just a slight back of the throat tingle, even after about 5 straight spoonfuls.
I had to be careful with this one after I opened it. I was constantly forcing myself to not eat all of it in one setting since I needed to do my usual routine with it for a review. This sauce is so good and mild that you literally can eat the whole thing with a spoon in one setting without any problems. Simply amazing, and a great label too, I’ve always enjoyed that about their company.

You want soem serving suggestions? Ok, try it on waffles and ice cream (vinella is the best).

Well to be honest with you.Im not sure if you can do a review by just tasting it out off the bottle(just my opionion) does nothing for the sauce.There are many uses for this sauce and you have given us nothing.
And then to come back with a waffle and ice cream suggestion??

Along with using it on food, I do many other tests to gather my info for a review. Sometimes I do not include that info sometimes I do, that’s my porogative.
Cooking with and what the sauce pairs with is NOT the main focus of the review, how the sauce tastes right out of the bottle is what I review because I’m reviewing how the sauce tastes. Sometimes cooking with a sauce or pairing it with foods changes the way it tastes and when that’s the case I include that in the review (and have done that with many sauces).
And yes, I came back with waffles and ice cream, you seem to have a problem with that. Have you ever tried it? I think those combos are what works best with the sauce. Yes, I did get offended by you post, I spend alot of my own time (believe me, I do not get paid for my work and have spent alot of my own money to purchase these sauce, travel to events (which along costs a few hondred dollars at times), and purchase foods to pair this with and that’s not even factoring in the time I spend writting the reviews). To have someone post the things you posted in the way you posted them is very rude and arrogent.
I’m all for constructive critisism and can handle it. I’ve had it heppen before and it will happen again, it’s the name of the game, not everyone is going to agree with what you write. But you comments were not constructive.

delerium, do you want a review of the sauce, or do you just want someone to hold your hand tell you what to use it on? A proper review can be done of a sauce with nothing but a sauce and a spoon. Any information or opinion on any aspect of the sauce other than what you can read on the label is a review. No matter what’s said, it’s up to you, the consumer, to take that info and apply it to how YOU want to use it.
Here’s my review of this sauce:
Sweet, fruity, mild tingle of heat, so damned good that I eat nearly the whole jar with a spoon. Oh, it’s good on Oreo’s too if’n you just gotta know. I give it a “Hell Yea”.
Passow, nice review. If you enjoyed this sauce, you should try the “Super” version. Same great flavor with a LOT of heat! You’ll have to use a smaller spoon.

They had it at WOF. I bought a jar there. It was even signed and numbered. I didn’t hesitate to open it though!
Maybe it was the only jar?

Great review John, I also tried this sauce at WOF and I think your spot on…
Another item I saw at WOF, but it was in the Jerky section of JJ’s was Jerky Boyz Jerky, I thought about buying it but noticed it was all green, I notified Management and it was removed, so no one could get sick from it.
I’ve tried to contact the owners of the site (Jerkyboyzjerky.com)but with no response, I guess they don’t care that they put out a inferior and poor quality product.
Sorry got off track.

Passcow great review…I love this sauce on Vanilla ice cream. After all, the name of the sauce IS Sugar Fire Dessert Sauce

You ask why so angry..I come on here then acussed of being Delerium ..then you tell some bs story of you buying jerky at JJ where did that come from…Why am i so angry..Dont really understand that question..Yea you are right there was a co packing problem 2 years ago.Since has been fixed..Not sure why you are calling me angry..I remember a time where you had my jerky and said it was good…So please tell me why you are so angry…..
