It seems like the gari (pickled ginger) hits first than the pears and brandy essences hits. Now brandy and pears have always been the best combo and to put that into hot sauce form is pure genius. Along with the taste of pears there is also that slightly gritty pear feel which adds a nice texture to the sauce. Next up comes the peppers and they hit in the exact order they are listed on the label.
There is a slight vinegar bite but nothing as big as to deduct taste points from. Next comes the cinnamon followed by the black olives which is the first time I?ve seen that in a sauce by the way. I do so love black olives. Then the white pepper hits. The garlic and cinnamon are definitely aftertastes that linger for a bit. Tasty tasty tasy!
Now, the maker of this sauce warned me about the heat and said that the more you eat the hotter it gets. I would have to say this is only partially true. While it does start out as a 7 it soon ramps up to an 8 with the second try and stays at that level regardless of how many spoonfuls I have afterwards. Just hot enough to make me notice but no where near the point where I?m doing the air suck. The tongue stabbing pain of the Naga is definitely there, such a wonderful feeling.
If you want some of his sauce you?ll have to email the Nerd himself at “contact @ alphanerdz.com” (just leave out the spaces when you email. I did this to prevent spam, you know how the net can be). Congrats on the sauce, Bent, you have officially earned one of the rarely given 10s!

I have this sauce from Bent as well. And it’s tremendous. As Bents brother, Bent has experimented on me with his ongoing chilli sauce combos. I am one happy guinea pig!

Except for the presence of black olives, it has me very intrigued, especially with such a review.
Hey Bret(snaps finger), get some ordered for JJ’s. I want some for the Weekend of Fire!!!
