After yards of tape, wrapping paper, bubble wrap, and whole bunch of paper cuts, the long-awaited Epidemic Proportions collectible hot sauces are shipping out today. We were able to ship out a few of them already, but a bulk of the rest that were ordered will go out today. To those of you who have been patiently waiting after paying for them weeks ago, you now know that the USPS will have those for you relatively soon. For anyone who decides to crack the sauces open to eat, we’d love to hear some feedback on the taste. So far, the feedback has been good.

Enjoy!

Numbers 23 and 144 arrived today! After wrestling with the wax on #144, I finally got it open. Really, are there any tricks to removing this wax from collectors bottles? :) I had to soften it in boiling water. Anyway..

OMG the smell! It smells awesome, strong smell of peppers, herbs and garlic, followed by a slight vinegar kick. You can definitely smell the fatali and habanero peppers, but it’s very balanced with the other odors. Same goes for the taste!! It’s got the fatali / habanero heat, and the after-burn of the Naga is present but very subtle. Overall not a super-hot sauce by chilehead standards, but it would blow a non-chilehead away.

I just had some straight out of the bottle, but I could see this going well with a ton of foods. The herbs, garlic and tequila / lime juice combo along with the chinense peppers give it a bright taste, but definitely not too sharp. It would make a great green sauce on tacos, a good addition to a green enchilada sauce, heck, I think it’d make a good steak sauce!

Any chance this sauce could be sold commercially? I’d definitely buy it and keep it around as a regular sauce. The taste and smell are amazing.
