Dorset Nagas available in U.K. supermarkets
This caught my eye, as it is quite a big step to see nagas in a large supermarket. Tesco is one of the biggest in the UK. Check out this article snippet from Thepeople.co.uk:

BEWARE! CHILLICON CARNAGE
We test world’s hottest pepper
By Lee HarpinThe world’s hottest chilli goes mainstream tomorrow for the first time in Britain.
Fiery Dorset Naga peppers are being trialled by Tesco in Newcastle – the UK’s chilli capital.
So we asked our resident chilli nut Dean Rousewell to prove his boast that NOTHING is too hot for him.
He said: “Chilli is my absolute favourite ingredient in just about anything but I met my match with the Dorset Naga.
“I sank my teeth into its bright red flesh and within a second I thought the roof of my mouth would explode.

Hi guys Im the Chilli buyer for Tesco in the Uk.
Just to let you know the Naga launched well in the trial stores with phenominal coverage on all primetime radio, tv and newspapers. The product sold well and a new drop has been arranged for this weekend. The Geordies in Newcastle were great sports and really gave it there all – however I think the mighty Naga beat them.

Hello. We were absolutely delighted when we spotted packs of Dorset Naga Chillies on Tesco shelves the other day.
However something is terribly wrong. They just don’t have any heat! My husband and I love hot chillies and grow our own chillies in the greenhouse each year. It is always a challenge to grow really nice hot ones and we’ve so been looking forward to cooking with (and munching on) Dorset Nagas. We can’t seem to manage to grow that variety.
The packet of Dorset Naga we have just used really doesn’t have any heat (nor at the moment do Tesco’s Scotch Bonnet chillies). In fact to be honest the little green birdseyes have more heat than the Nagas they are selling. I just don’t understand how they can sell chillies under the name of Dorset Nagas when they are clearly not very hot.
What do you think is going on? Are others finding them rather lame or is it just me?
Yvonne

Hello Duong,
How do you do? This Khetoli from Nagaland. The pepper is thought to originate from Nagaland in north-eastern India. Dorset Naga is the product known as Naga Moresh and Raja Mirchi (’King of Chillies’) in Nagaland, India.
But in 2006 two agronomists, Joy and Michael Michaud, in Dorset, England, bought some chili peppers at a Bangladeshi market in Bournemouth, took them home and found them extremely hot. They took some seeds and grew them in their garden and when they tested the harvested bite-size chilies they recorded an SHU of 876,000. They sent it to a laboratory in New York where it recorded even a higher SHU of 970,000. They called it Dorset nAgA recognizing that it is a variant of Bangladesh’s fiery nAgA morich. With all the certificates of analysis they applied for the “hottest pepper” status in the Guinness Book of Records. At about a million SHU, the Dorset nAgA became the hottest pepper around.
And this is how the Dorset Chille is available in UK supermarket. Otherwise, its originally from Nagaland. My family is already involve in dorset chilly business. We would be more than happy to supply you. Please feel free to contact me at kyeptho@yahoo.com

hi there everyone! I have grown the Dorset naga and have got to tell you chili heads, that they are are very easy to grow especially in a conservatory.
chatting about there extreme heat well i had one Dorset naga plant and some of the chillies were hot and some mind bending hot so you will get a variation of heat through out the plant, just try a bit if its not hot enough try another one you will find a scorcher in there.

I too have been eagerly awaiting the naga’s. I was delighted to find them in the Tesco at Stockport but they were not hot at all
My Mad Dog 357 Special Edition (rated at 600,000 SHU) is far hotter than the Naga’s I got.
I had two, the first chopped into my lunch, the second raw.
I’m in agreement with Yvonne, I should have really struggled with the chillies but they were on a par with bird’s eye, nothing stronger.
