Wow, has it really been such a long time since we reviewed one of CaJohn’s hot sauces? It seems like with each new release of hot sauces, it causes another one of them to make my “Top 10″ list!
First Impression: I tasted this for the first time at Jungle Jim’s Weekend of Fire. I remember talking to Sue (Mrs. CaJohn) about it and it being her new favorite sauce. Then, I got a pulled pork sandwich to munch on, went over to John’s booth and lathered my sandwich with it. To me, it was more like a fantastic barbeque sauce than a hot sauce. I never had a better barbeque sandwich, I’ll tell ya! So, I guess you could say that my first impression was, “Wow.” Then it was, “This isn’t a barbeque sauce?”
Ingredients: Brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, red habanero chiles, tomato paste, Jim Beam Black Label Bourbon, chipotle chiles, corn starch, salt, spices, natural applewood smoke flavoring

Taste: Sweet, spicy (great habanero kick), nice chipotle flavor, very smoky and just generally fantastic. A little thin, but again, I have to remind myself that this isn’t a barbeque sauce. Undoubtedly one of my favorite sauces.
Overall Recommendation: I think you should buy it and use it as a barbeque sauce. I have tried it on many other things that are sauce worthy and it’s worked well. The use I prefer is pretty clear, though. I’ve preferred this on chicken & pork, but you red meat fanatics will not be disappointed. If you have the chance, though, ask CaJohn if he can make it in bigger bottle.

This is my favorite BBQ sauce of all time. Every time we’re setting up our booth and go over to say hi, this is the first thing I go for. Nice job, John. Bring me a case to FFS, please.

No doubt, John outdid himself (if that’s possible) with this stuff. It flat out rocks and is a favorite of Mandy and I. If you’re reading this and haven’t tried it, I can honestly say it’s the first sauce I’d suggest to someone getting into this great little world.
