Our long-lost blogger Shannan (of Melindas) offered up some information we would like to post today. Yeah, it’s sort of a stream-of-consciousness ramble, but even some spicy culinary genius comes from stuff like that. This is Shannan’s suggestion:
Chilehead Kings and Queens,
For those of you that tend to get out and wander this wonderful Nation of ours, I suggest you try the Wisconsin area…Sheboygan is what them folks call it. Let me just say there are a couple of wild boys up there in those parts over at the Green Room Pub. Ya’ll should stop on in and give ‘em a Big Texas Howdy…..
The place is something to holler about….. They got an assortment of their very own hot sauces. Yum MMMMMYYYYYY… Now, you know being from the wonderful state of Texas, I have to say while your there have a beer or two and enjoy the atmosphere… The music will make you bounce around and the hot sauce will get you hollerin for sure….
While you are up there a visitin… go ahead and run on over to the Farmers Market and Lord help me know…. Grab the Wisconsin PepperHeads Habanero Ketchup….. Now, folks listen up real good — This ole boy has got his head on straight…. There ain’t nothin better…. The Wisconsin PepperHeads Habanero Ketchup is the absolute thrill of my life…..
I am telling you right now — get up and there and git you some…..You see being raised the way I was - with 5 siblings and all- my parents could do just about anything with a bottle of ketchup….. So, this here ketchup well, I just fell in love… Now, this wasn’t one of those scenes from Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie, where it was love at first sight. Folks, this is one of those - I gotta little taste and it was like your Mama slapping you upside your heads kinda love… You start with that um good ketchup flavor and then right out of nowhere you get kicked in the head by your best damn mule……. That is the kinda love I am talkin… There ain’t nothin better…
This here is the best and I ain’t done nothing but put on all the wonderful assortment of Texas foods since….
Right here and now — I am gonna share with you my Mama’s famous and delicious manwich receipe… Now, for those of you that don’t like to eat a real Texas meal and want that low fat, no fat, no fun stuff— you best stop reading right now… Cuz this hear recipe is libel to give you a heart attack just reading it… But, you folks that don’t mind a good quick and easy meal that will feed 20 on one of them there real tight budget— you go right ahead and go to town and git you some….
Git you 5 lbs of ground meat and brown it up real nice…..Make sure you do this in one of them there Iron Skillets…….
Once you’re done with that —-take five 32oz bottles of Heinz ketchup and dump it in… Then just mix the heck out of it… Slap some on plain old white bread and LORDY— You will be grinning for a week….Now, my version is use that Wisconsin PepperHeads Habanero Ketchup and YUM YUM… Me and the kids just have a ball………… Just a little FYI—- This here recipe really will feed a bunch… So, when I feed my yungins… I make it in 1 pound - 1 bottle increments…
Now, ya’ll head up that way and have a heck of time……
Shannan, perhaps you can offer up a link for that Habanero ketchup? As those who like ketchup on occasion (Linda does, but Joe’s more a mustard guy), perhaps s spicy one would make it worth eatin’. ![]()
