While it may seem as though we report a lot on the doings and news from the world of CaJohn…truth be known that we aren’t the only ones who take notice of what John does for the world of hot sauce. The following article, of which we offer this snippet, is taken from the most recent edition of Columbus Alive magazine
Fire chief
by G.A. BentonThey say some like it hot; if so, then I say John Hard clearly qualifies as one of those burning-up some. I mean, the man started out as a literal fire protection engineer, traveling to the Southwest and Gulf Coast for “hold back the fire” work, and wound up founding a great local hot sauce company he called CaJohn’s.
Operating out of the North Market now, CaJohn’s currently offers over 150 spicy things ranging from many different-flavored hot sauces to marinades and barbecue sauces to easy as one-two-three chili kits (that actually taste good) to just a wide variety of products that make your tastebuds wake up and say, “Hit me again, baby!” (At least mine do.)
What CaJohn’s all-natural line doesn’t include is preservatives or a veritable saltlick of sodium. No, CaJohn’s stays true to its owner’s original, searing vision of how things oughta taste—call it a confirmed commitment to going the Hard way.

Why is his company called CaJohn’s? Makes me think it’s from California, which it obviously isn’t.

Well, I don’t know for sure, but I think it’s a spin on the word Cajun.
Ah, to be at the top of the hot sauce world like that…one can only dream…

It *is* a spin on Cajun. His name is John, he LOVES Cajun (family from down that way) and so it fit. He does occasionally have people slaughter it pretty good “KUH john” is the most common. You are not alone in wondering about the California thing.
