This is my first official review post banding, so I hope I do it justice. We’ve been a big fan of Denzel’s around the house, so I wanted to give this a go during Mango Week. I certainly wasn’t disappointed, other than the fact that I couldn’t try it on as many foods as I would have liked.

Ingredients: vinegar, mangos, onions, brown sugar, habanero peppers

First Impression: Nice heat level, thick texture and lasting effect. I like how this one hangs out for a while to tingle your tongue. The color has me a tad bit confused as it is slightly green (compared to other mango sauces) with no real green ingredients. It’s not strange enough to be off-putting, just a bit perplexing. I love the label with the lava explosion.

Taste: Initially, I thought this sauce was a bit bland, but I obviously just needed lots more of it. Once I got a nice tingle going, the flavor really exploded. I think the mango and onion mix rather nicely as to not have an overpowering of either. They also give the sauce the nice, thick consistency that is has. It’s not difficult to pour, but it’s definitely a hardy sauce. It’s only slightly sweet, so it is more versatile than a sweeter sauce. Again, there’s a nice tingle that stays for a while with this one which only adds to the great flavor.

Overall Recommendation: This sauce is ideal for fish and fowl. I thought it was fantastic on chicken and would be a great addition to a barbeque sauce for a little kick. Mixing this with tropical fruits and topping a salad would be nothing short of amazing. When I am back on raw veggies, that’s the first thing I’m going to try. Using this for tuna nicoise is simply impressive and my favorite use by far.
