The Hot Zone Online gets a lot thinner
This has nothing to do with hot sauce and spicy food. Or does it?
As part of the dynamic duo that co-runs this blog, Linda made the momentous step of having some surgery recently. As some of you may not know, she has struggled with weight control for much of her adult life. Diets, exercise, Weight Watchers…none have had any lasting longevity. After years of trying, Linda came to the conclusion that her health, and future as a wife & mother, was simply too valuable to continue on as she had. So, she had Lap Band surgery to help her lose weight permanently. This is a diagram of what it looks like:
It makes the stomach a lot smaller, permitting only small amounts of food intake and drastically changing everything about eating in general. So, Linda’s kinda “on the wagon” right now when it comes to solid food…so she won’t be doing too much in the way of tasting and reviewing stuff for the next several weeks as she gets used to this new change. She says that she’ll be so ready to try some more stuff soon, but for now it’s slow going.
For those who knew and offered support, we thank you. For those who didn’t, well now you know. Get ready for the new svelte Linda as she drops the pounds over the next year or so. The change is gonna be unreal. Stay tuned!!

Thanks, Cap’n! I’m really sore right now, but I think it will be worth it in the long run.

Thanks Jon & Ron! I’m already down about 22 pounds and am looking forward to being down 20 more by my birthday (Aug. 24). I start my exercise program in just a couple of weeks and that’s when it will really start to matter. I think Joe is getting a little sick of looking at liquid or pureed food, but, hey, I can still add hot sauce to it. LOL

Are you serious? That’s Joe’s birthday. It gets even better, though. We are a Virgo family. Ari’s birthday is August 31 and Josh’s is September 3. We call it “Birthday Week.”

Hope all goes well Linda – I do believe you passed the worst part (surgery) already.
A good friend did this some years ago and he had like 200+ pounds to loose. All went well and he’s really enjoying life now. It was amazing to follow him through the changes.
