Jackson’s Signature Series Awesome Habanero Beef Jerky Extreme Ingredients: Beef, Spices.
I received a surprise package from Arizona Jack the other day containing his latest creation, an extreme beef jerky. I still have so many products to review from the Fiery Foods show, but since beef jerky does not last long in my hands, I decided to bump it up to the front of the line.
This version of his jerky is a step up in most respects from his regular Awesome Beef Jerky. It has more habanero powder and a wonderful glaze of Scotty B’s Oblivion sauce. This is one of the things that make this industry so great. Everyone helps everyone out. It’s always a beautiful when a company can go to another company and say, “I like your stuff, mind if I use it?” and the other company says, “Sure!”
You can definitely see the Oblivion sauce on the jerky. It has a nice glossy look but isn’t sticky to the touch. This means that Arizona Jack probably slathered the sauce on the London Broil and then made jerky out of it. By doing this, the flavors really permeate the meat, making it an overall flavor fest for your tongue.
When I say this is a step up from the other version, I mean that it has much more complexities to it. The fruity habanero flavor finally makes it’s appearance right up front which was seriously lacking in the regular version and the overwhelming teriyaki taste has been toned down. There is also a hint of sweetness, albeit short lived, and a heavier black pepper presence.
The sauce seems to have tenderized the meat a bit because this batch is much softer. The strip basically falls apart and dissolves when chewed. Now, I don’t know whither to call this an improvement or not. Call it a personal preference but I really like to sit and gnaw on jerky until my jaws start to hurt. That’s one of the things that I really liked about his regular version but some people like the tender jerky idea so I have to say that this one would be for you. Then again, jerky has been known to very in this area from batch to batch.
Lastly, the heat. It’s a different type of heat from the regular. The regular had a steady build, which changed into a sudden jump in heat after a few bites and had me sweating after three strips. This one has heat that hits you right away and then lingers a bit and fades which did have me sniffling a little after a few strips. I was a little disappointed by this, but then again when it comes to my desired level of heat, it may just take a Naga dusted jerky to make this review’s tongue happy. Thanks a lot for the jerky Arizona Jack and keep up the good work!
