The Hot Zone

My introduction to these sauces and products came as an evolution-like process. First I saw the media articles come rolling across my computer screen. Then came the impressive list of awards through the Fiery Food Challenge and Scovie competitions. I even read a review or two about the sauces on another site […]

Jackson’s Signature Series Awesome Habanero Beef Jerky: Ingredients: Meat, Spices.

The guys over at Super Spicy sent me a little care package with their famous Jackson’s Signature Series Awesome Habanero Beef Jerky. Aptly named, this stuff is pretty awesome. It has all the things I like about jerky, thick, tough, chewy, spicy, and hot!

Upon first inspection, you can definitely see the powdered habanero. They used just the right amount to really set off one’s heat sensors. I was left sniffling after just two strips and three got me sweating. What’s interesting to note is the lack of habanero flavor on these four-inch long chunks of London Broil. The heat is there, but not the fruity taste of the habanero. That’s probably a good thing because the flavor most likely wouldn’t jive well with the other spices.

The only qualm I have about this jerky is the marinade that was used. There is really too much of a teriyaki flavor to it. The spices are perfect, but the teriyaki flavor is really distracting. But other than that, the packaging is great (a ziplock bag within a sealed bag), the label design and printing is perfect and beautiful, and the jerky really activates my salivary glands (which is always a sign of excellent jerky).

My original plan was to take a picture of this product to go along with the review. But do to its tasty nature it was gone before the end of the first day that I opened it. Sorry folks.

Jack does a great job with his jerky!

Tell me about it. The first day I got this jerky, I took it to work (Buena Vista Games…….yes I test video games for a living….) and people were threatening me to keep that jerky around for them to have the rest of the day. God was it good….

This jerky was extremely tasty. The first piece is hot but the second is on fire!

I agree about the teriyaki flavor. A little less and this would be the perfect jerky.

Thanks Jon!
