Courtesy of an online article from the Royal Gazette from Bermuda, we learned a little about Grant Kennedy and Joel McDonnell of Gombey Hot Pepper Jam. The article by Tim Smith reads:

Gombey Hot Pepper Jam makers Grant Kennedy and Joel McDonnell aim to conquer the world with their award winning concoction
By Tim SmithIt’s so popular even the Sultan of Brunei has given it a try, now Bermuda’s newest award-winning home-made jam is preparing to take the world by storm.
Gombey Hot Pepper Jam started off in the most humble of fashion when teacher and part-time jam-maker Grant Kennedy rolled into a bar holding a murky little jar just under three years ago.
The contents of the pot, a sweet and spicy pepper jam, proved such a hit with his pals that Mr. Kennedy and his close friend Joel McDonell decided to make a batch of the stuff and sell it at the Island’s City Market.

We haven’t yet delved too much into the realm of spicy pepper jams & jellies…yet. We have a jar of homemade stuff courtesy of our own Chuk Hell which we believe will be very good, but we haven’t yet had it around at a meal where we thought it might complement the foods well. If Gombey Hot Pepper Jam were available to us, it certainly sounds like ones we would love to try. Their jams are categorized by heat levels according to wind force, if you get our drift, and we’ve been through a few hurricanes ourselves. (At least Joe, as our native Floridian, has….)
Even if these aren’t yet available to us here in the continental U.S., that might be just one small motivation to take a trip to Bermuda. That’s as if the warm sandy beaches weren’t enough, right?!

My husband makes hot pepper jelly at the end of the season. Great on crackers with cream cheese. He has used it as a glaze on a pork tenderloin. Absolutely awesome!
