Passow Receives Another Bit of Hell

Ingredients: Habaneros, garlic, onion, lime juice, carrots, tequila, honey, apple cider vinegar, salt, black pepper.

As promised, here is the review for the second sauce that I received from Chuck Hell. Titled “Chuk Hell’s Smokin’ Hot Sauce”, this sauce does not disappoint. It is very similar in ingredients and sweetness to Magic Blend #2 but that’s about where the similarities end.

The fruity taste of habaneros mixed with honey and apple cider vinegar is right up front with the slightly bitter bite of tequila coming in second and the heat coming in third. That’s one of the things that I love about Chuk’s sauces is the nice mixture of sweet and heat…and boy does this have some heat. After consuming mass quantities, I was left with the habanero sniffles.

When mixed with food, the sweetness dies down about 40% (much more so than Blend #2, which dies down about 10-15%) and the individual flavors mesh together causing you to wonder, “Is this really heaven in a jar?”. After doing many taste tests, I find that the answer is yes. This is a very velvety sauce that I have yet to find something this goes bad with. I didn’t think Chuk could make a better sauce than Magic Blend #2…thanks for proving me wrong Chuk!

Glad you liked it!

I did a tasting over the weekend with these two and 4 other sauces I made. These two were pretty closely tied for crowd favorites.

One thing this sauce is good for is a base for BBQ sauce. Take some tomato sauce or ketchup, combine with brown sugar and apple cider vinegar over medium heat. Add my Smoke’n sauce to taste and you’ll have a nice, smokey and spicy BBQ sauce.
