richards.jpgFormer Texas Governor, Ann Richards, died last night. She was fighting esophogeal cancer and was surrounded by family & friends at her Austin home when she died.

I adored this woman and was proud to live in Texas when she was governor. Aside from being one great politician, she was a great woman. I would see her all the time when I was on my morning run on the Town Lake Hike & Bike Trail. (Yes, believe it or not, I used to run…A LOT) She would never miss an opportunity to talk with her constituency. Additionally, she would always say hello to whoever acknowledged her on her morning walk, which was undoubtedly one of the few moments she had in the day just for her. It simply never felt like it was her and us. It felt like it was just us…all in this together. She will be missed.

Rest peacefully, Ann.

She was a true-blue Texan through and through. I didn’t always agree with her politics but I always admired her.

She will be missed.
