This post has nothing to do with hot sauce, spicy food, or anything else like it. Despite being in the afterglow of ZestFest, today is five years since the events of 9/11 changed our lives as Americans forever.

On 9/11/01, I was a fledgling first-year medical student in Pikeville, KY just trying to figure out what I needed to do to survive the upcoming trials & tribulations of medical school.

Without waxing too poetic, we here at the HZOB would like to acknowledge those whose lives were lost, both as victims of senseless slaughter and those firefighters and policemen who lost their lives in performance of their duty. It was an unimaginable day with unfathomable loss. Let’s just take a moment out of our day to reflect upon the events of a mere five years ago in New York City, the Pentagon, and Shanksville, PA.
