In case you have been in a cave, under a rock, or otherwise separated from any of the mass news media outlets, you have no doubt seen the story about the foiled terror plot from downing large numbers of planes leaving Great Britain using explosives in common, everyday items like sports drinks and hair gel. Check out these stories:
Experts: Air security focuses on past threats
Plane plot involved ‘explosive cocktail,’ official says
As we begin to make our travel plans to go to ZestFest in Ft. Worth, most of us will be traveling by air to get there, which will now likely be a lot more time-consuming and frustrating with the new security measures. Not only will this affect stuff you may bring (as in carry-on luggage), but this means items you may purchase at the show as well. This includes anything liquid…like hot sauces, salsas, etc. Nothing liquid will be allowed in carry-on luggage, so you may want to arrange to have shipped anything you purchase at ZestFest…to save you the heartbreak of possibly having it confiscated at the airport. Plan ahead to avoid delays and hassles while you travel.
Moral of the story: Travel within North America is about to get a lot more strict and fileld with security issues. By thinking about what you’re going to take, and bring back, from ZestFest, you may be able to make your trip more enjoyable and maybe even safer.
See you all in Texas…safe and sound!
