Our mythologically inspired pepper plants continue to thrive, which is great given the size of their current containers. In fact, the blooms we saw on the plants when we first purchased them are starting to bear some peppers. As you can see:

Hector had only one small pitiful-looking infant pepper, and now he has three nice looking adolescent poblanos, with more on the way. This is our first foray into growing poblanos, so I’ll need to check out at what point these should be harvested. It’s way too early in the season, but the growing space that these have may dictate an earlier harvest so not to affect the fruit load of this plant. Anyone who’s grown them care to comment on how they look when fully ripe?

Achilles has a ton of flowers on it. Seriously, there are probably three or four dozen peppers-in-waiting when those start to grow. The chinense plants we’ve grown in the past have usually had a nice fruit load, and hopefully this one will be no exception. I look forward to seeing what color these habaneros will be.

Stay tuned!
