Breaking away from all the tasting, cooking, and miscellanous sauce gathering, I found the time to snap a few pics of some of the latest stuff to take up residence as part of the Hot Sauce Shrine. Check these out:

I thought the original Viper was pretty damn cool (and hot as Hades), but these bottles are a spiffy alternate version. For those of you out there who might understand this reference, it’s like having foreign language promo cards of your favorite collectible card game.

Wonder how much hot sauce they eat in Japan? I wonder if the print’s translation is something that says “will cause your rectum to shoot fire and set the toilet paper aflame” in Japanese.

The viper on the front of the bottle sorta looks like some CGI graphics gone awry, but achtung! to the warning in English on what not to do with this sauce. Can you just picture some poor German pouring some of this over their bratwurst? There may not be enough beer in town to put out that fire.

These will cause the Row of Blair to need some space modification, but that’s all part of the fun. Still just missing the 2004 Halloween Reserve!!

The wax on the Firecracker is quite nifty. Makes me want to say the Pledge of Allegiance….

Blair is pretty masterful with his wax on all his bottles, but the yellow & black is a nice touch to finish out this style. Can’t wait to see what he does next. I guess the lack of a edition number on the Encore is to discourage their re-sale on eBay or other retail avenues. Someone’s certainly going to do that, but it won’t be me!
If these are indeed the last of these type of Reserves, Blair has set the bar pretty high for future editions. We’ll see where things go from here!! Woot!

How did Jim C and the fire station get ahold of the Y/R to do a review?

We had a ton of homemade hot sauces to review, so we split the duty so it didn’t take us several weeks to get them all done. We kept the Coco Loco (and are still using it) and Jim got a bunch of others including the Y/R. They’re both seemingly really dang good!

We “evil corporate types” hang out here on the blog too!

You say that like “evil” is a bad thing, CaJohn!

It’s a Jim Campbell thing, from the Chilheads List. No commercial statements allowed. More like a badge than a bad thing.

Hi Marv!
Just darn lucky I guess also
I did laugh when I saw the C2C on the label- small world! At least in the hot sauce biz.
A 6.8 is also in the upper reaches of the scoring system- these guys are pretty stingy! Only one sauce has scored higher recently.

I give it an 8+ easy. Very complex flavors and heat enough to let you know it is not store bought mellow. Still milking my bottle. The Choco Loco went fast.

I certainly ranked it higher personally also, but such is the weight of a group. It’s really hard to go wrong with Chipotle in my book!
