For several weeks, we have toyed with the idea of growing a couple of pepper plants this year. In previous years, we have ordered pepper plants from both Cross Country Nurseries and the Chile Woman, but didn’t need a total of 6 plants this year…which is the minimum you can order through either one of those sources. Since we don’t currently have any garden space to use, we have only containers in which to use for any peppers we might grow. We found a couple of chile plants this past weekend, and brought them home to give it the ol’ college try to get them to make peppers this year. In homage to ancient history, we have:

Hector has quite a few flowers right now and even a few fruits in bloom as well. The fruit load for this plant won’t be as great as if it was planted in the ground, but we’re sure it will make more than its share of earthen brown Poblanos.

Brad Pitts looks absolutely
fab as the epic hero Achilles, huh?
Achilles doesn’t have any fruits yet, but in true chinense form, there are enough flowers there to assure us that there will be a plethora of habanero pods later in the growing season.
So why make the poblano Hector and the habanero Achilles, you ask? Well, since Achilles did in fact slay Hector…we sorta figured that the mighty habanero would somehow find a way to slay the upstart poblano should the need arise. Thus, the epic adventure begins!
