The Hot Zone

Spicy snacks that are actually both good and spicy are hard to come by, but Kentucky’s own KP’s Specialty Pepper Products has a formula for products that have every chance at becoming hugely popular. Makers of some novel spicy nuts and a few hot sauces, we became acquainted with them at this past Jungle […]

With an intro title like that, how can you go wrong? This was written about on the HSB a couple of months ago, but we’re visiting this one here on the HZOB for the first time. If you don’t know what we mean, here it is:

This was a gift to us from Crazy Jerry himself, and is #395/1000 in the series. We did a Feature on Crazy Jerry’s products many moons ago, and was one of the first ones we did after we started writing these Features up. Since then, we have still enjoyed consuming his products, but we’ll talk more about that a little further down the page.

The belt buckle on the bottle might not be one you’d wear to polite social functions, but if you’re a biker and not prone to social niceties…wear it to your in-laws’ house and just watch the reactions from your relatives. :)

Sorry about the glare, but this pic is meant to point out the gold flakes that are immersed inside the bottle. They are listed as “food grade 24k gold flakes,” but this just looks too cool to open it up and taste it. A collector’s item is just that…collectible, and not for consumption. With peach flavor and habanero extract, I have no doubt that it would wield a little peachy heat to your palate.

This is the new re-formulated version of the Mustard Gas hot sauce. Jerry told us that he added a little horseradish to give it a little extra oomph. This is not mustard to lather over your poor unsuspecting hot dog…this mustard demands that you respect its authoritah. A little goes a long damn way, but if you’re into hot mustard sauces, then you NEED to have this one in your stable of sauces. We haven’t tried the new version yet, but when we polish off the old bottle and start consuming this one, we’ll let you all know how much the new formula has ramped up its heat.

Like we said…everybody needs a little beaver to display at home. Now’s as good a time as any to get yours.
